The Nautical Institute is an international representative body for maritime professionals involved in the control of sea-going ships. They provide a wide range of services to enhance the professional standing and knowledge of their members, who are drawn from all sectors of the maritime world. It boasts over 6,500 members from around the world and 87 branches and celebrated its anniversary in 2022.
What we did for them
The core work of the institute is funded through membership subscriptions, but the Institute identified the need for additional funding for specific projects. They contacted us to help them develop a suitable strategy.
Our suggestion was to focus on grant makers and their members and we carried out a detailed research project looking at the opportunities in each area. This included research into grant makers around the world, meetings with key stakeholders, and interviews with a range of their members. Through this, we were able to advise them on the most effective way forward. We then helped them develop Legacy marketing material and to host an online event for their members, during which an amazing 75% of attendees pledged to include the Institute in their will.
