The Howard League for Penal Reform is the oldest penal reform charity in the UK. It was established in 1866 and is named after John Howard, one of the first prison reformers. The Howard League for Penal Reform is entirely independent of government and is funded by voluntary donations and membership subscriptions.
What we did for them
We helped Howard League to develop a door-to-door programme using newly recruited staff members. We managed an in-house training programme: first working through the basics of door to door fundraising, then trial practice sessions and finally working on the street and learning by engaging with the public in selected London streets.
This programme is intended to build a body of support to change society and the governments views on penal reform.
