Nick Booth, MVO, CEO, True Patriot Love Foundation in Canada

Nick Booth is a seasoned senior executive with extensive experience in the nonprofit industry and a wealth of knowledge in mental health, military and Veteran issues.

Prior to his role at True Patriot Love Foundation, Nick was founding CEO of The Royal Foundation, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry’s primary charitable vehicle, which he led from 2010 to 2017. In this role, he was responsible for overseeing the philanthropic activities of Their Royal Highnesses, including initiating both the Invictus Games and the Heads Together mental health program.

Nick has spent over 30 years in the charitable sector, working in senior roles in both the UK and USA, including the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children and Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. He is also a senior advisor to Special Olympics International, a Director of the Manchester United Foundation, and advisor on the UK’s new military rehabilitation centre. Nick was appointed to The Royal Victorian Order by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in the 2017 New Year Honours.

Yasmeen Hassan, Global Executive Director of Equality Now in the US

Yasmeen has spent her career eradicating gender discrimination in the law and advocating for the rights of women and girls across the globe. Driven by her experiences as a girl growing up in Pakistan, Yasmeen Hassan has become a leading legal voice in the global women’s rights movement.

She has decades of experience advising international bodies, such as the United Nations, on gender and the law and is a fierce gender equality advocate. 

As Global Executive Director, Yasmeen has utilized strategic litigation in cases of incestgang rapefemale genital mutilation (FGM), and child marriage. These cases have led to precedent-setting judgments and resulted in international and national legal reform.

She was also the editor of the first ever report on sex discriminatory laws around the globe that was launched in 2000.  Since then the repeal of sex discriminatory laws has become the key issue for the United Nations and part of the Sustainable development Goals and has also been a priority issue for the World Bank.  Equality Now’s advocacy has resulted in the repeal of over 50 sex discriminatory laws.

Deborah Mackenzie, BBC Broadcaster

Deborah Mackenzie covered national and international stories as a BBC World TV anchor for many years on a 24-hour rolling UK news service shown on BBC One and BBC World News. Previous to this, Deborah was a radio presenter on BBC World Service and also presented numerous classical music programmes including recitals from Bristol and Prom concerts from the Royal Albert Hall. Deborah has conducted interviews on international relations, politics, health and women's issues. She has been a visiting lecturer at Westminster University and SOAS.

Eric Berseth, CEO, Philanthropy Advisors

Eric co-founded Philanthropy Advisors (PA) in 2012, after working in emergency contexts for 7 years with the ICRC and MSF. Eric holds extensive experience as a project leader on definition of global strategies and positioning in the donor market for major corporate foundations such as the Sanofi Espoir Foundation, UBS Optimus Foundation and the Airbus Foundation, as well as working with High Net Worth Individuals (HNWIs) to define strategies and grant-making modalities. He additionally has significant experience in guiding international organisations to develop philanthropic strategies, including UNHCR, WFP and IARC, and in supporting them to better position themselves on the donor market, both nationally and internationally. 

Eric most recently supported WHO in the strategic development, launch and roll out of the WHO Foundation (WHOF). Philanthropy Advisors has been running the interim executive secretariat of the WHOF, where Eric has been successively interim CEO, COO, Chief if Staff and head of Philanthropies.

Samir Farrag, Director of Strategic Partnerships at Queen Rania Foundation

Samir has over a decade of advancement experience and currently leads Strategic Partnerships at the Queen Rania Foundation for Education and Development (QRF). QRF is on a mission to support and elevate the education ecosystem in Jordan and the MENA region.


He joined QRF from Graham-Pelton Consulting where as a Senior Consultant, he worked with non-profits’ volunteer and executive leadership to accelerate their fundraising programmes and provide counsel on transformational gift opportunities, which included the University of Portsmouth, King’s College London, International Crisis Group and Trinity Hall, Cambridge.
From his roles at the UN Refugee Agency, London Business School, SOAS, and King’s College London, Samir has built significant experience delivering advancement programmes in the UK, US, Asia, and Middle East. Having delivered event, volunteer, and communication programmes at all scales, Samir has been trusted to manage these institutions’ most senior volunteers and stakeholders.

Angelica Pino, Grants Manager and Capacity Strengthening Specialist at The Sexual Violence Research Initiative (SVRI), LATAM

Angelica Pino is a feminist lawyer with extensive experience in gender-based violence and gender equality. She started her work in the human rights field in Chile in the 80s, while the country was under General Pinochet’s dictatorship. She worked as a lawyer in women’s rights NGOs providing counselling and legal advice to women survivors of gender-based violence, as well as conducting training and research on women and the law.

After the democratisation of the country, Angelica joined the Ministry of Justice to work in a Legal Aid Project, where she coordinated mobile Legal Information Centres in townships. Angelica moved to South Africa in 1994, where she has worked in several women’s rights organisations and initiatives managing programmes on feminist networks and on gender-based violence, including: Lolapress international feminist magazine; Centre for the Study of Violence and Reconciliation,  Gender Links and Sonke Gender Justice.  She holds an LLB from the University of Chile and an LLM from the University of the Witwatersrand.

Victoria Sloan, Director of Development (Faculty of Medicine and health) University of Sydney

Vicki Sloan has over 15 years' experience in fundraising across higher education and charity sectors, in the UK, US, MENA and APAC. She led the international major and principal gifts programme for King's College London, in the UK, securing the Institution's largest ever gift from the MENA region. She is currently leading a team of Faculty-based fundraisers as Director of Development (Faculty of Medicine & Health) at the University of Sydney, Australia.

Charles-Emmanuel Ballanger, CEO, Aide et Action International

After 25 years in the field of vocational training, Charles-Emmanuel Ballanger created and managed a company offering audio and video solutions for corporations. Driven by a passion for education and training, in 2013, he changed direction to oversee the France - Europe direction of the NGO "Aide & Action" whose mission is to promote and develop quality education everywhere in the world for all those who do not have access to it.

In July 2020, after working on the transformation of the entire Aide et Action International network, the NGO's International Council entrusted him as the International CEO of the organization. 

Aide et Action is an international solidarity NGO which is developing nearly 100 projects in around 20 countries. In 2020, Aide et Action launched its first "major donors" campaign, Education for Women Now, with a target of 20 million euros by 2025.

Norma Johnston, Director, Norma Johnston Consulting

Norma Johnston Consulting was set up in 2007 and provides planning and hands-on support to ensure that public relations, communications and engagement are effective.

Norma has worked as Communications Director for Amnesty International UK, Global Communications and Marketing Director for Plan International and as an Advocacy Advisor with the World Health Organisation. Norma has campaigned internationally as well as in the UK  and has facilitated meetings and conferences with EU delegations and major UK charities.

Arnaud Marilhacy leads IFC France

Arnaud Marcilhacy, Director, IFCo France

Prior to joining IFCo, Arnaud's international career has led him to advise major institutions in France and around the world for their philanthropic actions, their fundraising and their communication.

He has worked with organisations as prestigious as the National Museum of Natural History, the Museum of the Red Cross and the Red Crescent (Geneva), the Fondation Napoléon, the Pierre et Marie Curie University, Ecole Centrale Paris, EDHEC, University Panthéon Assas, Institut Pasteur, University of Namur in Belgium. Arnaud was Vice President of the French subsidiary of Ketchum Fundraising (1st firm fundraising consultancy in Canada).

Previously, Arnaud pursued a career in communications, direct marketing and fundraising in Canada. He first joined World Vision Canada as collection manager via long spots (infomercials) on several Canadian television channels, then the communication agency Leo Burnett, where he has managed large budgets such as Air France, BMW and Weider Nutrition.

Sarah Player, Director, IFCo Ireland

Having lived and worked in six countries, Sarah has a wealth of international experience and understanding of fundraising strategies employed across varied cultural landscapes and how best to adapt and pivot in a changing environment. She has led teams and campaigns across a variety of causes including paediatric medical research; adult medical research and care at 3 NHS Trusts; palliative care; higher education; arts and social science, cultural and human rights.

She managed the Major Gifts strategy in South East Asia for one of the UK’s top universities, focussing on Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia. Later she headed up the nationwide fundraising and awareness raising strategies for a beloved national institution in Canada.

She has expertise in organising and managing large, as well as intimate, philanthropic and profile raising events in contexts as varied as Kensington Palace and Downing Street, to private homes and corporate offices. Sarah holds degrees in Archaeology, Philosophy and Psychology from the top two universities in Ireland.

Sam Kayongo, Director, IFCo Uganda

Sam has worked for 2 decades as a community development worker. After graduating from the historical university of Makerere in East Africa with a Bachelors degree in Social Work and a Masters in management; He started off his career as a Manager in the nascent local Government system in Uganda, and later took on a Fundraiser position with the Lutheran church in Tanzania.

Sam has had a decade of successful performance as a fundraiser in Tanzania doing grant solicitations, organising fundraising events and has a hands on experience with projects implementation in fields of agriculture transformation, WASH, micro-finance , culture, gender equality and disability rehabilitation. Over the past 5 years, Sam has undertaken intensive fundraising consultancy work to support non-profits on funding growth; assessing funding systems, training organisational staffs, supporting strategy development and other advisory services for NGOs. Currently Sam is based in Uganda- Eastern Africa working as part of a team of fundraising consultants operating in four continents under the International Fundraising Consultancy-IFCo.

Francesca Mineo, Director, IFCo Italy

Founder and Director of IFCo Italy, she has specialized in London at the Institute of Fundraising and BBC Training & Development. Specialisms include Corporate fundraising, major donor engagements, PR & media relations, editorial projects.

IFCo Italy has worked with Agenzia per il terzo Settore, CIAI, Fondazione Benedetta d’Intino, Fondazione Marcegaglia, Agenzia per il Terzo Settore.

Before her career in consultancy, she has worked for European Commission (Public Relations Unit, Joint Research Centre) and has 16 years of experience working in nonprofit organizations in health care (Aned – dialysis and transplanted patiens, Aiutiamoli – mental health), international cooperation (Intervita, AiBi – Amici dei Bambini) and culture (Alg – Journalists Association). For these organizations she was responsible for various aspects of strategic communication, including social marketing initiatives, web content management, profit-nonprofit partnerships and awareness campaigns.

Laurence Pagnoni, Director, IFCo USA

As career fundraiser, Laurence has a very unique and specific vision. For over thirty years his executive leadership has been dedicated to fundraising planning. His focus is on the critical intersection between strategic planning and fundraising planning, to enable the agencies with which he works to reach the next level in their fundraising capabilities.

Once their new revenue has been secured, each non-profit has been able to meaningfully improve the quality of their constituents’ lives and more fully achieve the mission they’ve dedicated themselves to serving.

He has supported hundreds of non-profits by developing strong revenue engines for them that work in sync with their organizational cultures. He has trained staff and boards of directors, and used non-profit programs’ outcome evaluation data to convincingly make the case for funding support. He has recruited and hired three chief executives, twenty development officers, two controllers and twenty-two program or division directors.

Jim De, Director, IFCo India

Himadri “Jim” De has more than 20 years of experience in management of programmes and coordinating social services in Asia. Jim is a post graduate (MBA) in Management from Chifley Business School, Australia, and La Trobe University, Australia. He also has been trained at the Management Development Foundation in the Netherlands, for Project Management.

Bill King, CEO International Fundraising Consultancy

Bill King, IFCo CEO and Director, IFCo UK

Bill has over 20 years fundraising experience, for a wide range of organisations and covering most areas, including trusts and foundations, community, event, corporate, membership development and major gift fundraising. He is a respected trainer and exceptional mentor.

Bill has had particular success with major appeals, directly managing a successful £30 million plus capital project at Chetham’s School of Music, working as part of the Major Donor team for Manchester Children’s Hospital Appeal, and advising a number of organisations on setting up and running big appeals, including Alton College, Royal Free Hospital, Bedford  College and the Neuro Therapy Centre. He has secured major grants from statutory funders, trusts and foundations, businesses and individuals.

As a consultant, Bill has advised clients on strategy setting and fundraising in a number of countries including the UK, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Thailand and Uganda, working with clients including the International Whaling Commission, BRAC, the Thailand Burma Border Consortium and Brecon Beacons National Park.
